Certified Nurse Aide (CNA)

As a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), you will be able to provide patient care, such as taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, as well as measuring intake and output, assisting with nourishment consumption, dressing and undressing, personal hygiene, also meal preparation. After the training is completed, the students will be eligible to take the Kansas State Exam, to become Kansas certified as a CNA.  After receiving the CNA certificate from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), the care and knowledge retained from our course can be put towards a variety of facilities. CNA’s are eligible to find employment at nursing home facilities, doctor's office, clinics, acute care hospitals. The CNA certificate is also a prerequisite for a wide range of other health care certificates/licenses. With the completion of the CNA course you are in the right direction to move on to an additional certificate/license.

Certified Medication Aide (CMA)

Before becoming a CMA you must complete and become a Kansas Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) program. While in training the CMA student will administer medication under the supervision of instructor who is a Registered Nurse. The student will administer medication at a long term care facility. After the successful completion of the CMA course, the student will be eligible to take the Kansas State Exam, to become certified as a CMA. After receiving the CMA certificate from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE), the knowledge retained from our course can be put towards a variety of facilities. After becoming a CMA you will be able to administer multiple kinds of medications. Such as topical medications, orally administered medications, as well as instill eye and ear drops to the patients.

CNA Refresher

This course is designed for Kansas CNA's who have not met the requirements that they have been employed to perform nursing tasks in the past 24 consecutive months. This course consists of five hours didactic training and five hours laboratory/clinical. The following topics are all covered in the didactic portion of the course:

  • The nurse aide responsibility in the health care delivery
  • Communication
  • Resident's rights (including preventing and reporting ANE)
  • Safety (including Heimlich Maneuver)
  • Infection control (including Hand Washing)
  • Bed making
  • Personal care skills (including feeding, bathing, dressing, elimination needs and skin care)
  • Transfers, positioning and turning
  • Measurements and recording of vital signs

CMA Update

This course is designed to provide the continuing education required for the Certified Medication Aide (CMA) to maintain certification.

  • Describe any changes that occur in the role and responsibilities of a Certified Medication Aide.
  • Determine appropriate techniques in caring for supplies and medications.
  • Describe the proper administration of all types of medications.
  • Identify new medications and effects of these medications on body systems.
